Third Eye — About

Three decades of drawing things into motion.

I've spent close to thirty years watching still drawings turn into something that breathes — first at Walt Disney Animation, then Nelvana, then a decade leading rigging departments at Pipeline Studio, building character rigs that had to survive a full broadcast season without breaking on episode nineteen. Sheridan College is where it started, technically, but most of the real education happened production after production.

Try posing him — one master controller, a chain of parts

This is placeholder art standing in for a real hand-built rig, but the control philosophy underneath is the same one I'd bring to a finished character.

These days that means rigging and technical direction — the unglamorous, load-bearing work that lets a whole animation team keep moving without anything quietly breaking underneath them. I move across whatever a pipeline actually needs — Harmony, Maya, Blender, Moho, Unity — because the tool matters less than whether the thing holds together. For the last two years I've also been folding AI-assisted workflows — mostly ComfyUI — into that mix, without letting it flatten the craft. Some of the shows that work has touched picked up a Daytime Emmy, a Peabody, an Annie, a few WGC nods along the way — nice to know the rigs held up, though that's not really the point.

Outside of production, R.A.R.E. Avatar is where that same instinct gets pointed at something just for me. The character floating around this page is my own design and animation, and it's slowly become the seed of a bigger personal project — Middlespace, currently in the works. Building something on your own clock, with no client waiting on it, changes how you think about the work.

If any of this resonates — if you want to follow along, share it with someone, or just see where technical rigging and personal meaning-making meet — I'd genuinely like to have you along for it.

Throat — The Reel

Watch it move.

This reel is animation, start to finish — feature classical work through to TV puppet and cutout animation. It's one piece of a bigger picture: reels covering rigging, effects, design, and art direction are coming next, and it's putting all of that together that actually shows what technical direction looks like in practice.

More self-driven shorts, process breakdowns, and the life drawing & film study behind all of it are coming to this page too.

Heart — Studios & Credits

Where the work has lived.

From classical hand-drawn cleanup to leading a rigging department — the throughline is always the character.

Middlespace

TRA Ep. 1 — The Map Is Not the Territory

Middlespace is a seven-part series — this first installment looks at Alfred Korzybski's idea that the map is not the territory. Others will follow.

Currently in solo production. If any of this resonates with you — if you see something in it worth existing — I'd welcome help getting it made, whether that's time, skills, or support along the way.

The Iron Maiden

A collaboration with Jens Pindal & Paul Mota

An original fantasy adventure currently in development. Jens's idea from the ground up — his story, his designs, and his animation. Paul handled clean-up and color. My part was backgrounds, technical direction, editing, sound, storyboarding, and some additional clean-up and animation.

The Shop

Early days, but it's open.

Prints, brushes, rig templates, and maybe a few things from Middlespace as it comes together. Still filling it in — but the storefront's live if you want to see what's there or follow along for what's next.
